LIBERTY UNVEILS NEW OUTDOOR CUSHION COLLECTION, EXPANDING THE LIBERTY GARDEN FABRIC COLLECTION

Liberty has launched a new collection of cushions to accompany its botanical-inspired outdoor fabric range, The Liberty Garden

Inspired by esteemed Arts and Crafts gardener, Gertrude Jekyll, The Liberty Garden plays upon the geometric motifs so well associated with her artistic, natural planting. Harmonised across three distinct ‘Garden Rooms’ - English Ditsies, Bold Tropic and Garden Geometrics, the collection juxtaposes ornamental florals with stripes, spots and geometrics to create unique and beautiful settings for the outdoors.

Drawing upon the terraces, pergolas, walkways and ornate steps of Jekyll’s gardens, Liberty designers choreograph each design according to colour and season, spanning four iconic Liberty colour stories: Lacquer, Jade, Pewter and Lapis.

Designed especially for outdoor use, the collection presents brand-new artworks along with reworked archival designs, coming together to offer a playful and eclectic combination of designs. Crafted from leading performance solution-dyed acrylic weaves and yarns, all Liberty Garden fabrics boast superior water resistance, light fastness and abrasion suitable for outdoor use.

THE LIBERTY GARDEN: CUSHION COLLECTION

The newly launched cushion collection presents a range of versatile outdoor staples, designed to complement and offset the outdoor fabric range. The Liberty Garden cushions reimagine these fabric designs to present soft home accessories, using high-performing and durable acrylic weaves, to add an injection of colour and print into the simplest of outdoor spaces.

The Persian Voyage cushion draws on the rustic philosophy of the Arts and Crafts movement, paying tribute to the beauty of vivid organic shades - painted in flower beds and trellises with living colours across a densely woven blend.

The Betsy Bloom cushion is crafted from a leading performance solution-dyed fabric, with a subtle slub texture in the weave, making for superior water resistance. Meanwhile, the Cabana Stripe cushion - where solid colour effects meet juxtaposed, textural marl stripes - spotlights a yarn-dyed fabric with high-performance fibres.

Arrange on an armchair or garden swing seat for a luxe heritage-inflected approach to modern outdoor styling.

ENGLISH DITSIES

Drawing inspiration from Liberty’s signature small-scale floral designs first popularised in the 1920s and 30s, English Ditsies find their timeless appeal in this nostalgic charm, reimagining archival prints for outdoor use in durable, water-resistant fabrications.

Highlights include Betsy Flora, a larger-scale adaptation of the much-loved Betsy print, originally created in 1933. Resized and recoloured as a two-tone pattern, Betsy Bloom is delicately redrawn with a fine outline, spotlighting monochrome stylised flowers to offer a fresh and contemporary look.

BOLD TROPIC

Inspired by themes of lushness and discovery, Bold Tropic designs capture the spirit of vivid and exuberant botanicals.

The latest interpretation of a Liberty classic, Persian Voyage takes inspiration from archival hand-painted shawl designs dating from the mid-19th century. Grand Milo traces traditional representations of a Mughal emperor, as represented in South Asian manuscripts, featuring predatory tigers and wild animals through a series of intricate details and dense line work.

GARDEN GEOMETRICS

A dedication to Arts and Crafts gardener, Gertrude Jekyll - Garden Geometrics presents an array of vibrant and dynamic weaves, inspired by the signature geometrics found throughout her gardens.

Reflecting the subtle mathematical beauty of Arts & Crafts geometric layouts, Arbor presents vibrant colouration and texture to create contrast and balance, offsetting the more detailed printed fabrics in the collection.

Palazzo is based on a tiny piece of woven Liberty fabric, dating back to the 1890s, now revived in an undulating diagonal check arranged in an elegant ogee layout. Originally printed in 1976, Cabana Stripe is a versatile and practical design, reminiscent of classic deckchair prints. A bold mixed vertical stripe, the textured weave offers the ideal pairing to the botanical designs.

The Liberty Garden collection is now available to purchase in Liberty’s iconic department store in London, and online at LibertyLondon.com.
