LIBERTY UNVEILS NEW AW24 FASHION FABRICS COLLECTION: THE CURATED FLORAL
5 June 2024
Liberty has launched its latest fashion fabrics collection, The Curated Floral, arriving as the ultimate celebration of the beauty, diversity, and wonder of Liberty’s most beloved muse - the flower.
Celebrating flowers in all their glory, the collection extracts floral blooms from their natural surroundings to reveal a bouquet of bold and vibrant prints. Whether photographed, painted, or preserved, Liberty designers reimagine iconic archival floral prints to new and striking scales, delicately brought to life using hand-drawn and painted techniques.
Designed in-house at the Liberty Design Studio in Soho, London, and printed in the Liberty mill near Lake Como, Italy, The Curated Floral presents flora and fauna across three distinctive narratives: Floral Focus, Floral Library, and Floral Wonderland. The Curated Floral is available on a range of three signature fabrications including Liberty’s iconic Tana Lawn™ cotton, in addition to luxurious silks and poplin blends.
FLORAL FOCUS
Floral Focus celebrates organic forms and flourishes through an exploration of colour, pattern, and texture. Reimagining flowers in the abstract, the collection takes inspiration from the highly detailed work of still life artists, highlighting the microscopic complexities of flora and fauna.

Inspired by the impressionist still life paintings of Matisse, Flower Portrait, presents a dynamic combination of strong diagonal lines in contrasting hues, punctuated by textured florals. Fragile Blooms takes inspiration from Richard Learoyd’s most recognised work, capturing the ageing process of poppies over a series of days, while Cunningham depicts multidirectional peony blooms in vibrant colourways.
Originally created for Liberty during the early 1980s, Nayra offers a playful, geometric take on deconstructed silhouettes. Intersecting layers of flowers come together to create a distinct hand-cut collage, revealing new structures and juxtapositions in contrasting colourways.
FLORAL LIBRARY
Floral Library explores an assortment of species and plant varieties through the Botanist’s eye. The collection brings a sense of order to Liberty’s botanical showcase, celebrating the design house’s 60,000-strong archive through a partial rediscovery of its iconic floral prints, reworked to new and striking scales.

Evelyn Dawn plays upon Arts & Crafts motifs, inspired by a hand-painted artwork discovered in the Liberty archive. This large-scale portrait is a modern rendition of the original, featuring stylised blooms over an undulating, acanthus leaf trail. Inspired by Columbia Road flower market, Iris Scatter highlights the simplicity of the flower's silhouette in a striking graphic print, created using one of Liberty’s most beloved silk bases suitable for daytime designs as well as evening wear.
A tribute to one of Liberty’s signature flowers, Maud’s Posy offers a contemporary take on a typical Art Nouveau design, paying homage to Liberty’s rich design heritage through a series of trailing poppies, winding foliage, and pops of stylised carnations. Botanist’s Journey celebrates flora from all corners of the world, highlighting blooms from Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Central Asia in an array of expertly hand-drawn pencil sketches.
FLORAL WONDERLAND
Floral Wonderland captures the playfulness found in the carnival of nature, featuring fictional species and flowers as a celebration of the designer’s endless imagination. Never-before-seen species and hybrid varieties adorn this collection with unique and otherworldly botanicals.
An expression of pure joy, Flower Power is an ode to retro florals. Created in collaboration with London-based illustrator and self-proclaimed ‘professional doodler’, Hattie Stewart, this whimsical pattern is full of energy and optimism featuring bold and playful typography. Discovered as a small paper fragment in the Liberty archive, Petal Pattern redefines the idea of a traditional paisley floral, crafted in a 100% cotton poplin, ideal for shirting and tailoring pieces.
Chevron presents a mix of two different flowers, spliced together to form a unique geometric floral in a nod to botany and new plant varieties. Interpreting the creation of hybrid flowers more literally, Hybrid depicts a collage of different petals from various species to form a fantastical large scale print.
The Curated Floral collection is now available to purchase in Liberty’s iconic department store in London, and online at LibertyLondon.com.
