LIBERTY LAUNCHES HOUSE FLORALS FABRIC COLLECTION
22 April 2024
Liberty has launched its latest interior fabric collection, House Florals, reworking some of the design studio’s most beloved fashion florals for the home.
Giving new life to its longest-serving, iconic fashion florals through the lens of interiors, House Florals launches as the ultimate celebration of the ditsy florals so integral to Liberty. An ode to whimsical florals in all their splendour, the new collection encourages a playful approach to pattern layering and crafting, celebrating the charm, innovation and ingenuity that has defined Liberty since 1875.
Printed on four lightweight cotton and linen bases, suitable for drapery, accessories, and upholstery, House Florals fabrics are ideal for crafting and design enthusiasts alike.
Inspired by original artworks in the Liberty archives, the design studio offers a fresh take on iconic 1930’s floral designs, seamlessly merging eleven quintessential ditsy florals with five contemporary, geometric patterns. Capturing the delicate essence of blossom flowers, blooming buds and delicate branches, the designs span five signature colour stories: Lacquer, Jade, Lapis, Pewter, and Lichen.
Highlight designs include Betsy Flora, a larger-scale adaptation of the original Betsy pattern, initially crafted for Liberty in 1933. This timeless classic is a true icon of Liberty history and remains one of their most widely recognised and cherished prints. Thorpe House offers an iteration on the much loved Thorpe motif, designed in 1968 for the Tana Lawn™ cotton collection. Referencing the works of artist John Hall Thorpe, this contemporary take on the archive design is reimagined to a more graphic and playful scale. Scallop Spot takes inspiration from the iconic markings of regal peacock feathers, originally drawn using oil pastels.
Created for Liberty in 1964, Empress Vine denotes a charming trailing floral pattern featuring stylised cherry blossom flowers, blooming buds, and colourful carnations, evoking a sense of gentle movement amongst the delicate branches. Poppy Grace gives new life to a cherished archival print from 1910, emerging as one of the design house’s most versatile classics. Poppy Meadowfield offers a refreshing take on Liberty’s Poppy & Daisy print, redrawn and rebalanced for contemporary interiors with a vibrant colour palette.
Beautifully complemented by modern and reworked archival stripes and graphic geometrics to accompany the floral designs, Park Stripe is a tone-tone vertical stripe designed to infuse atmosphere into contemporary living spaces. Introduced in a seasonal 1970 collection, Tapestry Trellis presents a captivating series of tiny, coloured squares in an all-over repeat, evoking the charm of traditional, graphic tile patterns.
Craft timeless classics with contemporary charm. The House Florals interior fabric collection is now available to purchase in Liberty’s iconic department store in London, and online at LibertyLondon.com.
