LIBERTY CELEBRATES MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY WITH CALENDAR OF ARTISTIC INITIATIVES

150 Years Dedicated to Art, Culture, and Design

2025 marks 150 years of Liberty, a milestone celebration for the leading British luxury retailer and design house.

Since 1875, Liberty has cultivated a global network of industry-leading creatives. Honouring this community of artists, designers, and makers who have shaped its esteemed reputation in craft, curation, and artisanal design, Liberty unveils a vibrant calendar of celebrations that bring to life its DNA - ‘design, nature, art’.

Curated exhibitions, immersive installations, exclusive products, and collaborations with world renowned museums, artists, and design institutions, will reimagine Liberty’s history through a contemporary lens, laying the foundation for the next 150 years.

IN-STORE INSTALLATIONS BRING LIBERTY’S 150-YEAR STORY TO LIFE

On 08 May, Liberty will unveil The Patchwork Collective - a large-scale, community-driven project celebrating the artistry of Liberty’s makers, designers, and fabric enthusiasts.

Following an open call, over 1,500 handcrafted patchwork squares have been submitted and woven together to form a supersized quilted house - a collective expression of how Liberty has supported generations of creatives. From at-home crafters to globally renowned designers, each contributor has stitched their own story into the fabric of Liberty’s legacy, creating a living artwork that honours Liberty’s past, shapes its present, and inspires its future.

Highlight collaborators include Jil Sander, Paul Smith, Oshana for Emily Eavis, Karel Martens and Levi’s alongside select members from the Liberty craft community.

The Patchwork Collective installation will be unveiled at the Regent Street store 08 May 2025.

Launching alongside The Patchwork Collective, Liberty will present I Am. We Are. Liberty., an extensive in-store exhibition celebrating the heritage and evolution of Liberty design and its contributions to the arts. Offering an immersive journey through Liberty’s history, the exhibition will honour the individuals that have shaped its rich legacy, offering a rare glimpse into the renowned Liberty archive. In August, the exhibition will travel to Japan to be showcased at the Expo 2025 Osaka.

A dedicated gift shop will accompany the exhibition, featuring a curated selection of limited-edition anniversary collectibles.

Further celebrating its global creative community, Liberty will partner with esteemed cultural institutions, museums, and artists on a series of initiatives throughout the year, including collaborations with the Design Council, the William Morris Gallery, The Wallace Collection, and the World Design Congress, amongst others.

A celebration of its in-house design studio, Liberty presents a series of interior and fashion collections for 2025. Fabric collections are unveiled alongside a curated series of products, spanning homeware, apparel, and accessory categories.

HOME & INTERIORS

A tribute to the original furnishing fabrics and wallpapers that first catalysed Liberty’s esteemed reputation, The House of Liberty interiors collection draws inspiration from key moments in Liberty’s sartorial past. The designs launch alongside a new fabric base, Tana Reborn Eve, comprising a blend of raw cotton, 20% recycled fragments of the iconic Tana Lawn™ cotton, and 34% recycled polyester.

The House of Liberty interior fabric collection is available now, with cushions available from 31 March 2025.

FASHION FABRICS & APPAREL

The Retold Fashion Fabrics collection begins its story by referencing theatrical themes, with designs divided into four acts. The Liberty store is presented as a stage complete with a cast and audience, echoing prolific designers and collaborators from Liberty’s 150-year history, and spotlighting the many fans of the brand, from music legends and models to writers and actors. The Next Act looks forward to the innovation of the new generation.

Taking inspiration from the acts of Retold, The Stage is Liberty’s fashion and accessories collection which presents a vibrant array of celebratory designs brought to life through two distinct party settings – garden party at the Painters House and cocktail soirée at the Arts Club.

The Retold fashion fabric collection is available now, with The Stage apparel and scarf collection available from April 2025.

GRAYSON PERRY FOR LIBERTY
