EMBARGO: LIBERTY ANNOUNCES NEW INTERIOR FABRIC COLLECTION, HOUSE  FLORALS

Effortlessly timeless and instantly recognisable, the new designs re-imagine some of the brand’s renowned fashion fabrics, now for the home.

Liberty has announced the launch of a new interior fabric collection, House Florals, reimagining the design studio’s iconic fashion florals for the world of interiors.

Paying homage to the effortlessly timeless and instantly recognisable ditsy florals that go hand-in-hand with the Liberty brand identity, House Florals celebrates their cherished heritage, daring to honour the most beloved and longest-serving fashion fabrics for interiors for the first time.

Drawing inspiration from classic 1930s floral designs, the collection captures the whimsical essence of meadow flowers and humble blooms, brought to life across five signature colour stories: Lacquer, Jade, Lapis, Pewter, and Lichen. Original artworks from the Liberty archive inform a contemporary take on iconic classics, celebrating the charm, innovation and ingenuity that has defined Liberty since 1875.

House Florals, created for crafting contemporary designs through layered pattern play, seamlessly merges eleven quintessential delicate flora and fauna motifs with five contemporary, geometric patterns.

Highlight designs include Thorpe House, which offers an iteration on the much loved Thorpe motif, designed in 1968 for the Tana Lawn™ cotton collection. Referencing the works of artist John Hall Thorpe, this contemporary take on the archive design is reimagined to a more graphic and playful scale. Betsy Flora is a larger-scale adaptation of the original Betsy pattern, initially crafted for Liberty in 1933. This timeless classic is a true icon of Liberty history and remains one of their most widely recognised and cherished prints. Poppy Grace gives new life to a cherished archival print from 1910, emerging as one of the design house’s most versatile classics.

Created for Liberty in 1964, Empress Vine denotes a charming trailing floral pattern featuring stylised cherry blossom flowers, blooming buds, and colourful carnations, evoking a sense of gentle movement amongst the delicate branches. Shepherdly Flowers is a more recent design, hand-drawn in pencil and inspired by the stylish florist’s display that adorns the Regent Street entrance to the Liberty flagship store. Elegantly transformed into a stylised floral paisley, this all-over meadow layout offers a celebratory interpretation of wildflowers and plants. Mitsi Blossom takes inspiration from a print initially designed by Gillian Farr, a member of the design studio during the 1950’s, and pays homage to the design house’s historical appreciation for Japanese motifs through its captivating cherry blossom all-over print.

Printed on four lightweight cotton and linen bases, suitable for drapery, accessories, and upholstery, House Florals offers the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary, allowing the most iconic Liberty motifs to advance to new and striking scales.

The House Florals interior fabric collection will be available to purchase in Liberty’s iconic department store in London, and online at LibertyLondon.com from April '24
